Easy Homemade Mac and Cheese with Bechamel Sauce

This mac and cheese could be made in your oven and is every cheese fan's specially children's favorite recipe. You will enjoy every bite of it because the combination of cheese and Bechamel sauce is flawless. There are a lot of different ways to make this dish and you can use different cheese in it. I tried my best to make this recipe healthy and also very delicious. You can use your favorite cheese in this recipe such as mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, or gouda.

Ingredients

3 cups macaroni
2 cups Mozzarella cheese
1 cup Parmesan cheese
40 grams Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
2 cups Milk
0.5 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Pepper
0.5 Teaspoon Nutmeg

Instructions:

First, put the water on heat and add one tablespoon of oil and salt to it. When the water starts to boil, add your pasta to it to become soft. Meanwhile, you can prepare your Bechamel sauce.

Put a pan on the heat and let the butter melt. Now add two tablespoons of flour and mix it with butter.

Slowly add milk to the pan and mix them well until they are all combined. Then season the sauce with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Then stir until the sauce becomes thick enough.

Add half of your cheese to the sauce.

Drain the cooked pasta and remove the excess water. Then add it to your sauce and mix them well. Then put them in a dish to be cooked in the oven.

Preheat the oven to 180C. Cover the pasta with cheese and let it be cooked in the oven for half an hour.

At last turn on the top grill of your oven for 3 minutes and let the top of your pasta become golden.

You can grate some parmesan cheese on your pasta and serve it.

Tips and tricks

  • You should add the milk slowly or the flour wouldn't solve in it and in this case you can't have even and combined sauce.
  • Take the pasta out of the heat before it becomes too soft, because it's going to be cooked in the oven as well.
  • You can use more cheese in this recipe.

I am one of the biggest bechamel sauce fans because by using it you can give a creamy feeling to your dish without actually using any cream. In this recipe, I used bechamel sauce instead of cream sauce.
