Strawberry Crumb Bars Recipe - Quick & Easy Dessert
If you have a lot of summer fruits and don't know what to do with them or you want to make a fast and easy brunch, I think you should make this crumble. This recipe is way easier than you think. You can use all kinds of fruits in it but I personally prefer berries. The combination of blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry is incredible.
Ingredients
Instructions:
- 1
-
Put the oven on 190C to warm up and if you have an electric oven put it on 170C. Slice the strawberries.
- 2
-
Whisk all the dry ingredients, flour, sugar (3/4 of a cup), salt, and baking powder.
- 3
-
Grate the cold butter and add it to the dry ingredients and whisk well.
- 4
-
Add yolk and vanilla to the mixture and whisk.
- 5
-
Knead the dough well until it becomes like the way you see it in the picture.
- 6
-
Put the sliced strawberries, fresh lemon juice, corn flour, and sugar in another bowl.
- 7
-
Mix them all together.
- 8
-
Grease inside the 20-centimeter pan well with the butter.
- 9
-
Use 2/3 of the dough to cover the bottom of the pan and make it smooth and even by pressing it with a spoon or your hands. Place the strawberries on top of the dough.
- 10
-
Cover the strawberries with 1/3 of the remaining dough. Don't be afraid of using your hands, cut the dough to pieces and place them on the top of the filling.
- 11
-
Put the pan inside the oven that is warmed. Bake it for about 40 to 45 minutes at 190C.
- 12
-
When the top of your crumble is nice and golden and you see tiny bubbles of strawberry juice, your crumble is ready. Let the crumble cool down for 30 minutes then serve it.

Tips and tricks
- If your crumble dough isn't sticky enough, you can add one teaspoon of water to it.
- The amount of cornflour you use is depended on your fruit type. If the fruit slices created too much moisture when you mixed them with sugar, you can add one more spoon of cornflour to it.
- You can slice the cold butter into little cubes and blend them with other ingredients in a blender, but to my experience, it is really better and faster when you grate them. Make sure that the butter is really cold and hard when you are grating it.
- Pay attention to the last pictures. You need to press the dough between your fingers well then place them on top of the strawberries.
Background & History
The best thing you can have your crumble with is vanilla ice cream. I didn't have vanilla ice cream so I used raspberry instead. This dessert looks fancy and only takes one hour to be made.
